It is all handwritten and guaranteed original.

A proposition for cooperating with he other religious societies of Woburn in establishing a branch of the Sanitary Commission in this place was considered and approved and it was voted to vest the power to act for the society in the three ladies who form our part of the general committee on arrangements for the festival. Society met with Mrs Choate an abundance of work was supplied dressing gowns, sheets, flannel shirts and socks and much was accomplished. Twenty five ladies present the society has completed and sent to the Sanitary Commission in Boston since January first eight quilts twenty five sheets and ten pairs of socks. Much other interesting information was given and a letter from General Rosecrans and one also from Col Moody were read by Miss Gray which were highly gratifying in their hearty approval of the commission and its good deeds. Many were added to our number in the evening and the time passed most pleasantly.

Mrs Alva Wood became a member. There was a full supply of work much of which was finished, the needs of the contrabands now require our energy and application. Met again at Lyceum Hall one causing bringing all together that of ministering to the needs of our suffering countrymen who fell at the Battle of Gettysburg a large number stayed the entire day and also the following day and the result was nearly four hundred articles made and forwarded to the Sanitary Commission on.

Sent to the Sanitary Commission 33 pairs Cotton Drawers, 3 pairs flannel drawers, 5 flannel shirts, 3 dressing gowns, 3 caps and 2 pairs socks. The work during the year has been principally furnished by the Branch Sanitary Commission. The number of articles made for the commission is four hundred and eighty three. The contributions from our own society have been slight consisting of eight quilts, twenty five sheets, ten pairs of socks and six and one half dozen towels making the whole number of articles to be six hundred and fourMuch yet remains for us to do and while the call came for defenders of our country let us diligently exert the silent though powerful influence of the needle.

Afternoon meeting shall continue during the evening. The work consisted of patchwork for quilts and of 9 fatigue caps for the soldiers made by our own society separately from the commission. The following ladies constituted themselves members for the year 1863 at this meeting.

A meeting of the Woburn Branch Sanitary Commission was held and the following articles were furnished by it to the sewing society connected with the Unitarian Church. The 9 shirts flannel already finished have been sent to the 22nd Regiment as intended. Also 6 flannel shirts, 16 towels, and 3 pairs of stockings have gone to the Sanitary Commission which were left from the preceding yearThe work consisted in part of fatigue caps for the soldiers and reading of reports of Sanitary commission. A meeting of the sewing society was held on the afternoon of this day with Mrs Doliver. There were 15 ladies present notwithstanding the day was raining. It was an extra meeting because of the call for garments occasioned by the recent battles.

The work consisted of the garments furnished the society by the Sanitary Commission. The sewing circle met on the afternoon of this day with Mrs Hall.
