DETAILS: Rare Cartes des Visites photograph of an African American Civil War soldier from the 29th Connecticut Infantry Regiment (Colored). Photographer is Wells & Collins, New Haven, Connecticut. Circa 1861 Like many CDV's of the time, it looks to have been hand colored by the photographer for effect.

The insignia on his sleeves indicates that he held the rank of Quartermaster Sergeant. Measures 4" x 2 1/2" inches.
