Lost wax bronze casting portrait of a. Civil War Soldie r custom commissioned by Modern Art Foundry.

Measuring 9 inches tall and 4 inches wide by 4 inches deep. It is an original, cast in an edition of 9 and foundry markings present. It has a silvery patina accenting the highlights and details. There are two drilled holes in base for mounting if desired. A unique addition to any collection we have cast a set of 3 soldiers as well as President Abraham Lincoln with various patinas.

Considered the greatest war in American history, it demonstrated that the desire for freedom travels deeper than the color of any skin and further than the borders of any state. Modern Art Foundry is a fine art metal casting and conservation facility in NYC that over the years has completed a number of projects related to the US Civil War. Most likely our grandest conservation and restoration project was the stabilization and bronze casting of the four zinc civil war figures that were installed at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn in the late 1800's.

Following this project as well as a restoration project on both northern and southern monuments, Modern Art Foundry in association with their design group "MAF Designs", commissioned four small portraits: Abraham Lincoln and three soldiers. The three soldiers are not intended to be any one soldier of the north or south, but a cross reference to all soldiers and officers during that time of profound conflict in our country.
