Ca 1860's CIVIL WAR 6th PLATE RUBY RED AMBROTYPE UNION CAVALRY SOLDIER. Offered is a Civil War 6th plate Ruby Red Ambrotype of a Union Cavalry Soldier. This is a seated studio view of the soldier. The ambrotype comes in a full Union Thermoplastic (erroneously called Gutta Perchas) case designated BERG 3-184 GEOMETRIC.

The image has a few wipes across the front and there is typical mat wear. A spot of emulsion loss by the table and by the edges, as typicaly found.

The case shows stress cracks at the lower corners on the image side. Otherwise, normal wear with a few light nicks or chips. Tight hinges and a functioning closure that holds close. Please see all images for details. I've been listing several from several hundred images of Civil War soldiers and officers.
