Ca 1860s civil war 1/4 plate tintype armed union infantry soldier "support arms". Offered is a civil war 1/4 plate tintype of a armed infantry soldier in a greatcoat holding his weapon in "support arms" stance. This is a full length view and there is a painted canvas backdrop.

The image is housed in the "scarce" combination of union case designated berg 1 - 17s , richmond, va on the front & 3 - 16s geometric on back with a deep red pad. Very nice combination of image and thermoplastic case. Tin shows a few bends in the main body and some crazing. Mat had been bent over the edge of the tin, and still is at the top of the mat.

The case has some wear and chips to the corners and a few surface nicks. The surface is in overall nice condition and in particular, the design of the monument. Please see all images for details.
