This is a great 1/6 plate tintype in a half case. The soldier is Daniel M. Thompson of the 48th Indiana Infantry, Company G.

There is no I'd in the image. How did I ID him. Twenty years ago I bought an image of him, his brother, the family bible and his brothers diary. The image of him was almost the same. His brother fought with Wilders Brigade.

In the diary it mentioned the Battle of Hoovers Gap Tennessee. I have copies of all the info. The lady I got this from years ago just found this image. That's how I know. Cannot remember who bought the other items.

So hopefully this goes back to an Indiana collector. The item "KIA'ED CIVIL WAR INDIANA SOLDIER KILLED AT CHAMPION HILL MISSISSISSI BATTLE" is in sale since Thursday, December 15, 2016. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Photographic Images\Vintage & Antique (Pre-1940)\Tintypes".
