Soldier Memorial Document Civil War Massachusetts 7th Regiment Company G for James Gallagher in 1863 for Copperhead Snake Bite. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. This document was generated for a James Gallagher whom was a private in the 7th Massachusetts Infantry, Company G. The document was given to Jame's wife, Isabella on October 1, 1895, presumably at his death. Gallagher served in a number of campaigns including Yorktown, Williamsburg, Fair Oaks, Glendale and Harrison's Landing, VA. There was another James Gallagher from MA that was in the cavalry that died of disease in 1865. While out in reconnaissance at Hascall Station, VA, this James Gallagher was bitten by a copperhead snake.

He received a honorable disability discharge from the army in January 1863. Interesting with him being bitten by a copperhead snake when the Copperhead Democrats were almost able to get Lincoln unseated as President in the 1864 election. Great Civil War related piece for your collection. No rips or tears to the document. Couple small pieces missing at the top and a small watermark at the bottom right corner.

The framed piece is 36" tall, by 24.25" across. The piece has a vintage frame on it with shrink wrap over the piece to protect it.
