THE ROSTER OF UNION SOLDIERS: 1861 - 1865 COMPLETE CIVIL WAR SET IN 33 VOLUMES RARE FIND! This is a used set but in excellent condition!! These were released during the late 1990's in limited runs by Broadfoot Publishing Company in Wilmington, NC.

I ran a google search and found that on Abebooks that this. Set is perhaps the most important research and genealogical tool for students and historians of the Civil War. The complete set in 33 volumes comprises a cumulative index of all Union soldiers as transcribed from the 1,200+ microfilm reels at the National Archives. The Roster of Union Soldiers provides name, rank, regiment, company and state for nearly three million soldiers. Included are all Union soldiers, not just state by state, but also from each branch from each state.

Also included are guidelines and tables for further researching and identifying Union soldiers and units. All titles are pictured in the listing. Each book is hardback bound in blue boards measuring 11 1/4 tall each. A noted Civil War publisher has transcribed the 535 reels of microfilm that index the compiled Confederate service records at the National Archives to produce this important new reference set.

Listed are the names of the entire Confederate Army (1.5 million names in all), including every soldier from every state at every rank, in a cumulative, alphabetical index. For each soldier, name, highest rank achieved, unit of service, and state are provided. Also provided is essential information for obtaining an actual military service record from the National Archives and conducting research using printed materials, particularly published state rosters and military histories. Krick, a specialist in Civil War history, has written a very useful introduction, including a helpful section on identifying and tracing Confederate soldiers. These blockbuster sets are essential tools for genealogists and Civil War researchers and are excellent candidates for acquisition by gift.
