These battlefield illustrations were made for Frank Leslie's Civil War period newspapers.
Frank Leslie's wife acquired his papers after his death in 1880 and published the engraved illustrations in the large format, two-volume work called The Soldier in Our Civil War. And miscellaneous statistics, compiled by T. Large folio volumes, 17 x 12 1/2 inches, bound in original pictorial cloth with gilt title and standing soldier on front boards. Blind stamp to rear boards. Black stamped ornaments to front boards. These Books are Columbian Memorial Editions, Available by Subscription Only. The Do have some creased pages, slightly loose pages.
