This nice 1/9 plate ambrotype features a Union soldier seated in a photographer's studio and wearing a. Schuykill Arsenal jacket over his vest. The fob of his pocket watch is visible hanging from a vest button hole.

His Schuykill jacket has eleven staff-size buttons and a low collar with a single button on each side. The photographer tinted his cheeks red and his buttons gold. The image is housed in a full thermoplastic case that's a little rough around the edges. Please see my other items for more interesting and original Civil War pieces.
