15th New Hampshire CIVIL War Soldier CDV Photo 1865

The 15th New Hampshire was a 9 month regiment and served in the Siege of Port Hudson, taking heavy losses in the May 1863 Assaults on the Confederate lines. An original Civil War CDV photo of Isaiah Piper, of Alton, New Hampshire, who enlisted at the then advanced age of 44 and served the full term as a Private.

The seated view of Piper in civilian suit is pencil idd on the reverse I. Piper Belmont NH 1865 and has a backmark by WL Wilder, Photographer, Laconia, NH. The reverse also bears a US Revenue Stamp, with ink cancellation date by Wilder, 1865.

Edge wear, age stains, Overall VG. The photo comes with service info for Private Piper. Alton and Laconia are nearby towns in Belknap County, New Hampshire. Piper is buried in South Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.
