1860's CIVIL WAR CDV SIZE TINTYPE PHOTOGRAPH OF 2 UNION ARMY SOLDIER FRIENDS

VERY rare and original, 1860s Civil War CDV size Tintype Photograph of two United States Army Soldiers - a Sergeant and a Private - in uniform. This outstanding, period Tintype Photograph measures approx. 2 1/2 by 4 and features full length portraits of the two Union "Pards". The Sergeant wears a 3/4 length, frock coat, vest and kepi while his buddy wears a shell jacket and kepi. The two men grasp each other's right hand and the Sergeant rests his left hand on the shoulder of the Private.

It almost appears as if the Sergeant is congratulating the Private as his visage is a proud one and the Private stands at near attention. Neither the subjects nor the photographer are identified in any way.

This rare and very attractive, Civil War Tintype Photograph is in excellent condition. The focus is sharp, the contrast strong and the tonality rich and warm.

The Tintype is clean and crisp and exceptionally well preserved with no scratches, bends, surface nicks, crazing, physical damage or repairs of any kind. There is a very light shadow of a previous case matt at the top and bottom edges of the plate but otherwise the Image is near flawless!
