1860s CIVIL WAR TINTYPE PHOTOGRAPH OF A UNION ARMY SOLDIER CIVIL WAR PHOTO
Rare and original, 1860's Civil War Sixth Plate Tintype Photograph of a Union Army Soldier! This outstanding, period Tintype Photograph measures approx. 2 3/4 by 3 1/8 band is housed in what appears to be its original cover glass, stamped brass matt and stamped brass binding. The Tintype is a wonderful, half length seated portrait of the unidentified, Union Army Soldier wearing an enlisted man's frock coat with chevrons on the lower sleeve that appear to identify him as a Corporal (although we would expect him to be wearing these on the upper arm). He is seated in a photographer's studio against a blank backdrop. This very rare and wonderful, Civil War Tintype Portrait of a Union Army Soldier is in very good condition. The focus is sharp, the contrast strong and the tonality rich and warm.

There is no surface loss, no scratches, no bends and no flaking to the emulsion. The brass mount is also well preserved.
