1861 CIVIL WAR Confederate Soldiers Group Photograph Original Antique Framed
Original 1861 CIVIL WAR soldiers group photograph in period frame. The Civil War is not my area of experience so I can only guarantee that this is an original photo of soldiers. If you are a collector I'm sure you know exactly what you are looking at. I think they are Confederate soldiers. Please note that this sepia tone photo is much better in person than it appears in my photos. I tried to capture different angles but nothing did it justice. It is INCREDIBLY detailed, though somewhat low contrast (not bad for the era however). There is some "early Photoshop" ink (or pencil) around some of the soldiers heads in the top center and also some in the trees. I can't tell exactly if they were trying to fix something that happened when it was developed or what. There are some scratches on the photo, not too obvious in the frame but can be seen easier out of the frame. The frame has some wear, mostly to the gold trim around the photo opening.
Nothing unusual or unexpected for the age. The backing in the frame has been replaced with cardboard. This is exactly how I found it. There is a notation on the back of the photograph as shown in my last photo.
My photos accurately reflect the condition. Please enlarge all photos for acceptability. Frame measures: 14 7/8 x 12 7/8 inches Front photo opening: 7.5 x 9.5 inches Back opening is 8 x 10 inches The Photograph itself is slightly smaller and there is some cream trim showing, mainly along the bottom. Again, I can make no guarantee as to the type of soldiers, just that it is an original period photo.
