1861 Civil War Requisition SIGNED BY TWO SOLDIERS WHO DIED IN WAR Libby Prison
The Requisition is signed by two officers who died in the Civil War. They were both from the 5th Pennsylvania Reserves. The Requisition itself is interesting because it is for a tent for the private servant of Captain Frank Zentmyer. It is dated October 1, 1861.

The document is signed by Frank Zentmyer the was wounded, captured, and died while in prison (Libby Prison in Richmond, Virginia) from wounds (lost a leg) received at Battle of Fredericksburg. It is also signed by Colonel G. Simmons who was killed at the Battle of White Oak Swamp, on June 30, 1862 while leading his troops. Colonel Simmons had previously fought in the war with Mexico and had fought in a number of Civil War battles.

Included is some biographical information of the men. The document is in very good condition with a couple of fold marks and some toning. A fantastic item for the collector of historical or military autographs!

Also, a wonderful idea for a family member to add to their archives! (Inventory: Autograph Closet - Civil War Envelope 2).
