Incredibly rare and historically important First Edition Civil War recruit manual and the rarest of Civil War manuals published. DeWitt Clinton Baxter, Commander of the 72nd Pennsylvania Fire Zouvres who fought at The Angle during Pickett's Charge. Currently the only edition available for sale to the public. In Good overall condition considering age and rarity.

Retains its original illustrated softcover wraps. Wraps soiled and worn but present and still attached. Pages clean with gentle wear.

Binding strong and tight and all pages secured firmly. Occasional border tear to the margins of a couple of pages towards the beginning. Profusely illustrated with 100 illustrations of the different Positions in the facing and manual of arms and the loading and firings. Publishers advertisement at the rear.
