1863 Civil War Soldier Letter IX Corps Steaming down Mississippi to Join Grant

Offered here is an interesting Civil War soldier's letter written and signed by Judson, a Union IX Corps infantryman, "on board Steamer Armada, Mississippi River, " to his sister, Mary Ann. Written on June 10, 1863, the letter describes the sights Judson saw while he and the rest of the IX Corps steamed down the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers on their way to join Grant's Army of the Tennessee. The letter is in very good condition and. Was written upon three pages of a 7 1/2" x 9 3/4" bifolium stationery sheet. The remaining unused paper was removed at some point for another purpose. There are creases at the locations of the original folds. The paper is in excellent sturdy condition, not stiff, and not delicate. Light wear to edges and corners.
