The figural Plaque is mounted on an mid 20th century wooden backing that measures 10" by 8" using its original threaded post and nut (easily removed). The figure of the Civil War Soldier is depicted in profile and appears to be lost in thought - perhaps thinking of his comrades who would not be going home. There is lettering on the rocks that read simply "GAR" and there is a blank area at the center bottom where a name or text could have been engraved. The Casting retains the majority of its gold surface paint and displays very nicely as mounted.
