19th Century 9th Plate Tintype. Union Civil War Soldier. New York Estate
These came out of a home near Saugerties NY. They had been in the home and the sitters are unknown. Lost only to history but captured poignantly in these old images. The tintype in this sale features a portrait of a Union Civil War soldier in his military uniform. He is seated with hand over wrist and looks just off to the right of the viewer.
The is hand color tinting to his cheeks and uniform. A very stoic and assured portrait of a US Civil War soldier.
This tintype is unframed as it was found. It has its original gold metal.
Condition: The tintype being in relatively good condition for age. Minor surface scuffs and scrapes that is age appropriate for an item of this age but the image is in very good condition.
