Antique USA ENGLISH c1800 Civil War Soldier Photograph Ambro - Dag - Tin TYPE? Colours may differ due to any flash used. Please check the postal DATE mark on the package when you get it. Here is an antique mauve leather on wood case.. A few scuffs and rubs of course on the case edges.
Open the case and see the plush red velvet under the lid. The photograph is behind glass.. And it has a shaped inner gold mount under the glass and a gold raised floral design frame sat on top of the glass.... Keeping it all in place. Sometimes these inner frames come out.....
But this one is solid and I do not want to spoil it taking it out.. So I have NOT been into the back of it. The photograph has a crinkled look about it when looking close.
I do not know if it is a TIN type AMBRO type or DAGUERREOTYPE photograph.... Maybe you collectors can see from my photographs. What country is the solder from? Well I cannot fully see the badges...
He has an American look but of course could quite easy be an English soldier. The photo is of a soldier... Stood in full front pose...
Wearing a uniform and hat and holding a Sword. He has a large badge on each arm of the jacket.. These have crossed swords on them within a wreath... With something else between them at the top and bottom.. As well as a single STRIPE below the badge on each arm. A large brass belt buckle can be seen as well as a cross belt.. And a smaller badge up near the shoulder...Just near his arm pit of the left arm as you look at him, he has a rope or chain hung in a loop from here and it goes up to the smaller badge on his shoulder.. Typical Officer whistle or similar hanging from here. His hands have no gloves on.
