Rare and original 1860s Civil War Tintype Photograph of a Union Soldier! This outstanding period tintype photograph measures approx. 3 1/4 by 3 3/4 and is housed in what appears to be its original, pressed paper surface hard case.
The tintype is a wonderful portrait of a young soldier wearing a jacket and holding a gun. There is a rosy tint on the soldiers cheeks and a gold tint on parts of his uniform. Neither the soldier nor the photographer is identified. This very rare and wonderful Civil War tintype portrait of a soldier is in very good condition. The focus is sharp, the contrast strong and the tonality rich.
