Rare and original 1860s Civil War Tintype Photograph of a Union Soldier! This outstanding period tintype photograph measures approx. 3 1/4 by 3 3/4 and is housed in what appears to be its original, pressed paper surface hard case.

The tintype is a wonderful portrait of a young soldier wearing a jacket and holding a gun. There is a rosy tint on the soldiers cheeks and a gold tint on parts of his uniform. Neither the soldier nor the photographer is identified. This very rare and wonderful Civil War tintype portrait of a soldier is in very good condition. The focus is sharp, the contrast strong and the tonality rich. The original pressed paper hard case has some surface wear and the spine is disconnected.
