C 1861 AMBROTYPE, 3 CIVIL WAR ERA SOLDIERS IN UNIFORM, possibly WEST POINT
C 1861 AMBROTYPE, 3 CIVIL WAR ERA SOLDIERS IN UNIFORM, possibly WEST POINT? Circa 1861 Civil War Sixth Plate Ambrotype Photograph in Case; Portrait of three young men in military uniform seated in a relaxed affectionate pose. Possibly these men were in West Point Academy, as their uniforms appear similar for the period. Tinted red embellishment to the men's cheeks and gold tint to jacket buttons. Previous owner suggested sitter farthest to the left as of similar appearance to a young George Armstrong Custer but we cannot verify that identification and offer it as an image of unidentified subjects. Approximate case size is 3-1/8" x 3-5/8". Condition: case has light wear. Emulsion halo at left edge where image meets the brass mat.
Case spine has been repaired by previous owner with brown cloth tape. Please see photos for additional condition review. Create listings that get noticed! With Auctiva's 1,800+ Templates.
