Ca 1860's civil war 6th plate ambrotype union artillery soldier 2nd battalion. Offered is a civil war 6th plate clear ambrotype of a union artillery soldier. His hardee hat has battalion 2 company "l" on it. The view is a seated view and it shows excellent detail. The ambrotype comes in a full pressed wood case. Typical mat wear on the surface with a few additional rubs noted. Some of the lacquer on the verso has flacked off, but obviously does not effect the image of the soldier. Case has functional latches and shows moderate wear. It has begun to separate at the spine and is held together by the original fabric binding on the inside of the case. Again, excellent detail on the ambrotype. Please see all images for details. I've been listing several from several hundred images of civil war soldiers and officers.
