Ca 1860's CIVIL WAR LARGE PLATE TINTYPE ARMED UNION SOLDIER in PERIOD WOOD FRAME. Offered is a Civil War large plate - 4 3/16" x 6 7/16" (little bigger than a half plate, but smaller than a whole plate) - tintype of a armed Union Soldier. He displays his sword in hand and has a regulation 1839 pattern 2 - piece plate buckle. This is a seated view of the soldier. The photographer did add a touch of color to the plate in spots. The fame is 8 13/16" x 10 7/8" at the largest dimensions and is composed of wood. The image and cover glass is held in place by period nails. Some surface wear with a few light marks or light abrasions. A few light noticeable bends to the main body of the plate near the edges or corners. Please review all scans or photos for details. I've been listing from several hundred images of Civil War images. Some are from famed photographers and some are signed and autographed.
