Lot of ten CDV's. This grouping of ten CDV photographs is from a collectors estate.
They were accumulated as a collection. They likely did not come from the same original source or family. The man with a shotgun does not look to be a soldier. The cut CDV of a man with his hands in his lap has a pencil written identification on the back that looks to read Garrett Sargeant Powers.
I could be misreading this writing. The photographer of this photo was J. The top and bottom edges of this CDV have been crudely cut. The side edges have waviness, and the left edge has a sharp crease or pressure mark. The photo is kind of washed out.
The CDV of a young man standing erect with his coat fully buttoned and his hat in hand also has a pencil written identification on the back. It looks to be James Ferguson, but I again might be reading that incorrectly. The portrait of a man with a grimace look on his face and his full head of hair slicked back looks to possibly be a soldier. This CDV has a prominent crease that begins on the left edge and goes nearly all the way across.
The top left corner has a surface tear (white showing), and the bottom right corner of the photograph itself has pulled away from the CDV mount. The photo of the two men standing next to each other was taken by a New Albany, Indiana photographer. There is a somewhat faded and washed out photograph of a young man that might again be a solder.
It is signed on front This is yours Nancy. The photographer is identified on back as M.
The CDV of the man with a long gun is in absolutely terrible condition. There is a horrific amount of creasing. The card is also badly stained, darkened and discolored.
Heavy corner and edge wear. The photographer is identified on back as G. The photograph of the man and woman has ugly staining and related discoloration.
The photographer is identified on back as S. There is a photo of a young man with some curling to his hair on the sides that I believe is a Civil War soldier.
The photographer identified on back is H. The photo of a younger man, maybe a teen, with his jacket fully buttoned and a fancy border around his picture has no photographer listed.
The last item included is a CDV sized card of the Old Abe eagle. The bottom right corner has a major 1 crease. The front side of this crease is torn along the surface. This corner is incredibly vulnerable to being torn off too much pressure from the front would pop it off. This card is also badly darkened and discolored.
All of the CDVs have a truly evident amount of darkening and discoloration. There is corner and edge wear. There are varying levels of warping and waviness.
The quality of the photographs also varies. I have a second grouping of soldier photos from the same estate collection listed this week, so you may want to check them out as well.
