In one he is wearing his Uniform & Tall Boots, with his Sword & his Holster at his sides. He is in Civilian Clothes in the other CDV. He has an IOWA logo on his Hat.
I found this confusing since written in pencil on both versos is: HIRAM THURSTON, SYCAMORE, ILL. SERVED IN CIVIL WAR, 42ND REGIMENT, ILLINOIS INFANTRY. Made me wonder why he had IOWA on his Cap. Sorry, Militaria is not my field of exptertise. 4" X 2 3/8", and are still in Quite Good condition, especially given the age.
Have some teensy pinpoint holes in the corners - someone probably had these photos tacked up at one time - Please see my PICS to see condition. PLEASE NOTE: A VERY NICE & INFORMATIVE EBAYER WROTE ME THIS INFORMATION: THE INFORMATION WRITTEN IN PENCIL ON THE VERSO IS INCORRECT, THOUGH THERE WAS A HIRAM THURSTON THAT SERVED IN THE ILLINOIS INFANTRY, THIS PARTICULAR HIRAM THURSTON WAS FROM BUCHANAN COUNTY, IOWA, AND, SERVED IN CO. HE JOINED ON 1/5/64 & DIED OF DISEASE AT LITTLE ROCK, ARK. ON 1/27/64 WHERE HE IS BURIED.
