Circa 1860's civil war 6th plate tintype armed union soldier with knapsack. Offered is a civil war 6th plate size (just a little smaller at 2 15/16" x 2 5/16") of a armed soldier with his knapsack on his back. The image had been tinted by the photographer in several places and there is excellent detail to the image. This is a 3/4 length seated view and it may have been taken in the field as the backdrop is canvas.

Views with the knapsacks are quite uncommon. Tin comes without case, glass, preserver, or mat. There are bends in the main body of the tin.

Some loss of emulsion in a few spots, but it is stable and appears not to be losing additional. A few nicks and scratches to the surface with some light crazing.

Rarely seen view, and again; excellent details to the image. I've been listing several from several hundred images of civil war soldiers and officers.

Some are from famed photographers and some are signed and autographed. Custom form will accompany all international lots.
