Dear Son- Father is worried as he had not heard from Lemuel until receiving news of his promotion, he has forwarded a box of provisions, is disappointed at no letters, learns that Lemuel has left the Shenandoah, the war news is good, hopes the Rebs will soon give it up & lay down their arms.
He also gives news of all his brothers including Samuel, also 14th NHV. News of the farm & lumbering, and he will send him his watch with George Lewis who is home on leave.
