CIVIL War 20th Pennsylvania Cavalry Chambersburg Soldier Letter 1864
The 20th Pennsylvania Cavalry saw heavy fighting in the Shenandoah Valley & Petersburg Campaigns. An original Civil War Letter from John M Seibert, "Head Quarters 20th PCV Camp Near Chambersburg Mr Christian Seibert". John writes "Dear Father": He arrived safely at camp Thursday evening but got sick again with the same sickness he had at Harrisburg, feels very badly and must go to the hospital, needn't shit so much as he did at Franks when I was sick. He closes the letter'From your son JM Seibert", with a ps " Write soon.
The 1 page 8 x 5" ink letter has a reverse date "Sunday March 27, 1864. John Seibert served Feb 1864-July 1865.
The 20th Pa Cavalry saw heavy service in Sheridan's 1864 Valley Campaign incl the Battle of Lynchburg. Age stains, old 1 tape repair, edge wear, Overall Good.
