Harrison S Poulter, enlisted as a 1st Sergeant in the 19th Kentucky Infantry Union Volunteers and served 4 years, rising to lieutenant. The 19th KY saw heavy fighting at Vicksburg and at Sabine Cross Roads, Louisiana.

Harrison is buried at the Bardstown City Cemetery, Nelson County, Ky. An Original 19111 Memorial tribute issued on the death of Lt Poulter, 191, by his Fraternal Lodge Brothers at historic Bardstown, listing his life and service in the Civil War, praising his integrity and devotion to Masonry and orders that the Memorial be printed in the Kentucky Standard, the Bardstown paper. 1p 9 x 13 typed/ink signed by the Masonic Committee, June 15, 1911.
