See the photos of this very nice all original belt plate on original belt. Has a whitish look with occasional light coppery highlights. You can see the typical CS. There may be something scratched into the face of the tongue but I can't. Initials stamped in the wreath portion.
The intact brown pig skin? Belt has much flexing, repairs with crude copper rivets, some cloth.
And a neat leather flap remains that covers the back of the buckle to protect the wearer. Out, about 37 inches long.
It is pretty much impossible that the belt plate could have been added to the leather at a later date and it is as it was during the War. Nothing on this rig has been messed with and it has been in my collection for at least 30 years.
