Civil War Confederate Soldier with Sword Ambrotype & Tintype Hickman Vintage Photo
Vintage Civil War Confederate Soldier w/ Sword Ambrotype w/ latching case and A Tintype Hickman? Photograph/Picture of another sodier/military man!
Bought these 2 photos in an Estate Sale from the collection of a wealthy vintage militia collector. Honestly, I don't know much about these kind (ambrotype, tintype or daguerreotype).
I would try my best to describe pictures to the best of my knowledge. This Ambrotype photo seems like a Civil war Confederate officer/soldier in his hat and in full-uniform holding a drawn sword in his right hand and the left hand holding the holster.
Another hat which looks like a confederate hat is on top of the single-stand table w/ cloth. Couldn't see his rank in his shoulder pad and collar.
This photograph is encased in a beautifully embossed design case with latching lock. Case also has beautifully desined in the front and back sides of the case.
There is a little fraying in the cloth hinges but still very much intact. Photograph itself is in very good condition and can be viewed clearly. There are some small black spots on the left and right side as well as along the oval frame. Please check all pictures for you to check condition and the measurement of the frame. You can zoom in and out for clarity.
This Tintype photo is of a bearded man/soldier/offiecer seems to be sitting down in his uniform. Looks like in the same era as the photo #1 but not sure. Beautiful embossed design on the mounting plate.
At the back of the picture a scribble is written in blue pen... "I think a Hickman" and below it is another scribble written...
"Ma's uncle" of N. Another is written on the top right corner but I couldn't read it. Looks like I have seen his photographs before, somewhere else but I couldn't remember. He seems like a very popular war figure.
Please check all pictures for you to check condition and the measurement. There are some small black spots and small scratches in the photograph.
