Included in the lot is a framed Service Document, Several Letters, and a Tintype of what we presume is the Soldier referenced in the letters and Document as they were all found together in the same Attic. The Soldiers name is First Corporal Alfonzo Davenport who enlisted with the New Hampshire 16th Volunteer Infantry on September 3, 1862 and mustered out on August 20, 1863. Included are 12 Letters, many which have the 16th Infantry Letterhead, from Mr.
There is one letter from his wife to him. Many Letters are without envelope but a few are in their original envelope with the 16th regiment logo. All the letters show wear from age. I have include pics of three full letters.
The letters are legible but difficult to read. Also included in the Archive is the Original Service Document for Alfonzo Davenport in a period wood frame. Both the Document and Frame show some wear from age but overall are still in nice condition.
I have taken photos of the front and back. Last in this Archive is the 1/6th plate Tinetype of what we believe is Alfonzo Davenport in Uniform. The tintype shows wear with surface scratches and some bends. All of these items were found together in an Attic.
