Private William E Fetters served Sept 1864- June 1865, 203rd Pennsylvania Infantry & was wounded at Fort Fisher, North Carolina. An original letter from Fetters at "Deep Bottom, Nov 11, 1864 to his wife SJ (Sallie) Fetters and baby boy George, sends lots of kisses to both, he & George are getting along fine on provost duty, got his tent up, was short of food but the "Darkies that left here today shared from their haversacks, sees a steamboat heading North on the James River & wishes he was on it, now he lays his head down on his knapsack to think of her & sends even more kisses. 2pp 8 x 11 ink.
