Civil War Soldier (Cavalryman) 1/6 Plate Tintype & Full Case

Civil War Soldier (Cavalryman) in blue 1/6 Plate Tintype - wears a plumed hat with die-struck, pre-war commercial style crossed sabers insignia & small brass numeral "5" attached to its crown. He holds what appears to be an imported saber made by Robert Mole & Sons. Of Birmingham, England, which emulated the British 1812 Pattern cavalry saber. The red tinting applied to the glowing end of his cigar red by the photographer or a colorist is noteworthy. This information & picture are in the Summer 2014 issue of Military Images page 47.
