I have been collecting Photographia and early photographic images for well over 30 years now. From time to time I have been and will continue to sell some of the pieces from my collection as I have simply run out of room and have to refine my massive collection. Please do watch our auctions if you do collect Photographica as there will be items from my personal collection as well as new finds that I begrudgingly offer! If I was younger and had the time I would be keeping and restoring this wounderful piece of history. It is not often that we come across a find like this and I seriously doubt that you will find another one with this wonderful photographical documentation of the life of a gentleman that served in the Civil War!! This album is estate fresh and all original to the family.
In itself the album is a fantastic album. It is a stand up with a drawer at the bottom.
The album is approximately 10 1/2" x 6 3/4" at the base x 11 5/8 tall. It has 15 pages that hold a total of 30 album card photos and currently has a total of 28 album card and other photos in it, one of which is an album card photograph of the Civil War Soldier in uniform! There are other photos which definately appear to be of the same person over the years of his life including a wonderful of what we believe is him as a young child on a velocycle! The bottom drawer has two other photos, calling cards and wedding invitations! There are a multitude of family names documented throughout the photos and the misc.
These should be very useful in researching the family and the soldier. Most of the photos (including the soldier image) are in good to very good condition. The album does need (and definately deserves) restoration!
