Civil War soldier letter, John L Hebron 2nd Ohio Infantry Huntsville Alabama June 10 (2 of 2), to his mother, was going to write but had headache, we do the same everyday, lay in camp and hard drilling, company drill 2 hours every morning, and battalion drilling every evening till sundown, pretty hard these warm days. Got letter from John Waers, he is guarding prisoners in Columbus (probably Georgia) have not heard sis, I get papers regularly for the last 2-3 weeks, no need to renew subscriptions as 2-3 in company take them and I get to read them, we had orders to cook three days of rations last night but orders were countermanded. Comes with a full transcript. Fine condition, 1 page plus part of another page. Residence was not listed; 19 years old.
Enlisted on 9/5/1861 as a Private. On 9/5/1861 he mustered into "G" Co.
