Photo displays nicely darkening around the outside, case is in fair condition shows sword and revolver. Photo measures about 4 inches by 3 inches, Sergeant bars have been colorized and is 100% original. Soldier was Sergeant Silas Jackson Blair of the 34th Illinois Infantry Regiment Company H of the Union Army. A complete printed history of the battles and travels of the regiment is included from September 1861 though April 1862.

Silas Jackson Blair was commonly known as Jack born in Crawford County Pennsylvania October 18th 1832, died in the battle at Pittsburgh Landing in the battle of Shiloh, the only remains they could find of this fallen war hero was his head.
