FANTASTIC 1/6 plate AMBROTYPE of an early war Union enlisted cavalryman. This image has knockout content. He holds his M1840 heavy cavalry sword across his chest and he placed his Army dress hat (Hardee) on the table beside him. How often do you see an image with BOTH regulation headgear samples in it?? Single number visible on the dress hat, might be a 7 but hard to make out.
Housed in a full leather case in good condition with a repaired spine. Image has good contrast and good clarity, although a touch light on the focus.
Image has some mat rubs and a few emulsion blemishes in lower left of the subject, they may have been present at time the image was made and they don't affect the subject. Overall a really wonderful shot of a cavalryman with just plain cool content. Image is guaranteed authentic for life!
