IDd Civil War DISABLED SOLDIER IN WHEELCHAIR CDV John Gruhn Co E 2nd MO Inf. He is seated very rigid and his coat is extended suggesting he is wearing a brace on his lower back. There is an old ink inscription on the bottom that identifies the man as John J. Gruhn and two other inscriptions on the back that read: John J. Gruhn Born March 11th 1844 in Poland Europa and formerly of Comp. Mo Vol Inft from 12th April 61 to Sept 14 Sept 1864 According to the National Park Service database, John Gruhn was a musician in Company E, 2nd Regiment Missouri Infantry. The photographers mark is Mrs. The CDV is in VG to Fine condition with edge wear, rounded corners, a bent upper corner, and soiling. There is some wear to the letters on thee inscription but they are easier to read once you know what it says. See my other auctions for more great photos.
