An original Civil War Discharge issued to Private Thomas Brown for serving 3 years, issued at Munson's Hill , Virginia, July 13, 1865, noting Brown was born in Cavan, Ireland, and signed by Lt Norman A Sly of his company. The 1p 8 x 11 ptd/ink discharge has the federal eagle illus logo and is also signed by Captain Timothy W Kelly, 164th New York as Mustering officer. The 152nd New York, Corcoran's Irish Brigade was a noted Irish -American unit and comes with service info: both Private Brown & Lt Sly were wounded in action at the Battle of Spottsylvania Court House.

Captain Kelly's 164th NY was also part of Corcoran's Irish Brigade. Reverse with signed Oath by Pvt Brown at Butternuts, New York.
