A very nice Civil War home front letter written from a sister, Ettie Bogert, it appears. The letter describes going to a photo studio, where she and others saw a soldier from the 1st New York Cavalry who was injured at the Battle of New Market, Md. And gets news of other soldiers, several of whom are named.

It appears Ettie Bogert had a brother, John, who served in the 127th New York Volunteer Infantry and as a lieutenant colonel in the 103rd Colored Infantry, though it is not known if these two are connected, and this letter makes several references to a John who she wishes would write. Please see Brown Vintage's other online sales for more militaria, Americana, and, soon, Star Wars toys and action figures. Keywords: photograph, ambrotype, tintype, daguerreotype.
