Collection of Seven Cabinet Cards of the Iowa Soldiers' Home. Seven cabinet cards, each measuring 6.5 x 4.25, five bearing photographers' stamps from Marshalltown and Des Moines, Iowa, all depicting the Iowa Soldiers' Home in Marshaltown, IA, founded in 1887 to care for Civil War Veterans. Four of the cabinet cards are photographs of paintings of the Soldiers' Home in Marshalltown, Iowa; three of these are nearly identical views of the same painting, though they are by different photographers, resulting in slightly different styles of image.
Three more cabinet cards depict a series of photographic views of different buildings at the home; two of these are circa 1890, showing the same groups of buildings, but arranged slightly differently within the image; the third shows the same buildings around two decades later, as some of the buildings show upgrades or modifications. Together with a 1960s photographs of the hospital at the same Soldiers' Home. MIld wear to images, slight fading to a few images, one image with small abrasion to upper corner and chip to lower corner affecting image and mount, a couple of images with small corner chips to mounts only.
