The uniform consisted of a blue Zouave Jacket and trousers, both trimmed in red, made from a very cheaply made flannel that many people referred to as shoddy. The regiment were also issued fatigue caps of gray cloth in addition to white cloth havelocks and the Zouave Fez. This uniform was quickly replaced by a dark brown uniform of almost the same design.
