Muster Date: 1 Dec 1863. Muster Regiment: 1st HA (Heavy Artillery).
Transfer Date: 24 June 1865. Muster Out Date: 25 Aug 1865.
Muster Out Information: Mustered Out. Some of the information we gathered above on Pvt. Wright, from Ancestry, is different from his Obituary. Below is the Obituary as posted on Friday, Nov 4, 1910 from The Brattleboro Reformer, Page 8. Also, we pulled information from the back of the photo and frame (Photo's 21,22, and 23).
On the back of the frame someone etched in that he was wounded during the Battle of Cold Harbor. We did find that 11th Vermont Infantry was there and the time frame is correct for Pvt. Also, the 11th Vermont Infantry changed to 1st Vermont Heavy Artillery which would explain why we're seeing both noted. Please note we are not experts by any stretch of the imagination....
Just every day folks who love history. All the information collected was either from the item itself and or from encyclopedias or the internet. Wright, 65, died Sunday at his home in Orange, Mass. After an illness of long duration, due to Asthma, which developed into consumption. Wright was a man of the highest type, and was held in the highest esteem by the townspeople. He was born in Londonderry and went to Orange 40 years ago, where he was employed by the Rodney Hunt Machine Company in the work of setting up waterwheels. He enlisted for the Civil War Aug. 17, 1862, and served as a member of Company G, 11th Vermont Infantry, three years, being Honorably Discharged Aug. Wright served his connection with the Rodney Hunt Machine Company about 15 years ago, and went into the lumber business, where he met with fine success. He retired from that several years ago. Wright was a great fisherman, and in his younger days came to his native town and fished in the streams where as a boy he caught many fine Trout. He leaves, besides his widow.Griffin, and one Son, Charles O. Find a Grave data base an images has the below information. The "V" is for Veteran.
