Corporal Augustus Pitman served 4 years w the 4th New Jersey Veteran Volunteer Infantry incl time as a Prisoner of War. The front bears a large rare Prisoner of War Rations Commutation stamp. 1p 8 x 11 ptd/ink, w Federal Eagle illus, the reverse has a glue applied Union Army Telegram, June 8, 1865 Trenton, NJ, ordering he be paid, & Pitman's signed Oath of Identity, 1867 at Ocean County, New Jersey.

Comes w service info, captured at Gaines Mills, Virginia, 1862. NOTE: Any repair to a paper item is listed. I use only museum curator approved archival repair tape. All items are unconditionally guaranteed to be authentic and in the condition as described.
