Image measures 2 3/4 X 3 1/4 inches and the photographer/artist nicely hand tinted the red piping of the artilleryman's shell jacket, at the cuffs, button line, and neck, red to show he was an artillery soldier. He also hand tinted the brass number on his cap or kepi, but unfortunately the gilt covers the numbers rather than magnify them and we cannot tell what artillery regiment he was from, although the man was more than likely from Ohio, as that is where the image was found. Nice tinted photo of an armed Civil War artilleryman. The item "Nicely hand tinted tintype of an Civil War artillery soldier withrevolver" is in sale since Sunday, June 28, 2015.
