There is a little separation of the top layers of thr tintype near the man's head but the face is clear. I don't know how to check the accuracy of this information but someone may want to check. I don't know a thing about military tintypes of this era but it appears to me that his belt buckle is backwards. The case in which the tintype is housed is in excellent undamaged condition with both hinges and the clasp intact. The case measures 3 3/4" by 3 1/4".
