It's an original colorized tintype of a union solider holding his musket and his bible to go along with it. According to the Bible he fought in the battle of Fredericksburg and his name is in the as well. Came from a family member of the brave soldier who gave us the history on it. The case and bible have seen some better days, the case is glued back together as shown and the Bible is separated for the most part but everything is still existing which is the most important part. There is some wear to the image of the soldier in the bottom right corner, but you can still clearly seem him.
From the very historic form of Holmes booth and Hayden. Excellent piece for a collection, don't pass it up!
