Here we offer an original Civil War-era large-format studio photograph of a young, uniformed, and armed Union soldier, framed under glass in a period green velvet mourning frame with patriotic ribbon border. The striking 5 x 3.5-inch photograph has some marks around the edges from being in a different frame at some point, with residue from photo album oaktag on its verso.
This is a scarce larger size, as most photographs from this era were smaller even than later CDV's and much later cabinet cards. The frame is scuffed with its original twisted wire standing legs still attached please see pics. Measures approximately 8.75 x 6.75-inches overall.
